Hi Patrick - I really enjoy reading your column - it can be funny, moving & insightful. Lately, you've seemed pretty down (whoa - the ashes column was especially heavy). My husband was laid off in November and so have several of our neighbors. It's tough right now, but things will get better. Hang in there!!!

Hi Viki,

Thanks so much for the kind note and words of encouragement. So glad you enjoy the column, whether I'm trying to be funn or can't help being morose. The "Dust/Ashes" column was a bit heavy, your're right. I guess I was just trying to see if people were still reading the column. From the feedback, they are. You hang in there too.

patrick: just finished your column in the Leader about your former teacher at Northridge. I really enjoyed reading about your thoughts and your relating this experience to your own life and to the Oscars. I'm with you--I think we need to embrace imperfection more often. Thank you for your column--it was wonderful to read.
